| REGISTRATION:
To register for the Hollywood PAL karate program, please
call 213 847 4382 for more information. To sign up,
you will need to bring a copy of your child’s
latest report card, a passport-sized photo, medical
insurance/provider information, and a check or money
order made out to Hollywood PAL for $33 which includes
the first month’s fees, along with a uniform.
Thereafter, monthly dues are $10 per month per family.

ATHLETIC
ACTIVITIES
Hollywood PAL offers a wide variety of athletic programs
including soccer, basketball, and karate. All programs aresupervised
by police officers and are held at secure locations throughout
Hollywood.
ENRICHMENT
PROGRAM
Hollywood PAL offers various 8-10 week enrichment courses
during the year, including yoga, dance, and theater appreciation.

MARTIAL
ARTS PROGRAM
The martial arts program serves approximately
50-100 boys and girls, ages 6-17. Tae Kwon Do
classes are taught by Ron Sanchez, recently retired from
LAPD, most
recently as Commanding Officer of Hollywood Division. He
is assisted by two former students who have ascended to the
level of Black Belt, Mr. Bradley Rodriguez and Ms. Yahaira
Rodriguez, and Mr.
Michael Yun, who volunteers his time one afternoon a week.
The classes are broken down by rank or belt. PAL
kids compete is a variety of tournaments throughout the
year and also participate in exhibitions, such as at the
Precious Cheese Feast of San Gennaro LA and the LAPD National
Night Out.

SOCCER
PROGRAM
The
soccer program currently has approximately 42 boys and girls
participating. The teams compete in
various leagues based in Los Angeles. Each league,
based on age, has a playoff system and championship game.

are Wednesdays and Fridays 6:30-8:30pm at Fairfax High School
(7850 Melrose Ave in Hollywood). Games
are typically played on Saturdays or Sundays.
JUNIOR
POLICE ACADEMY
Hollywood
Junior Police Academy is a truly unique program that teaches
children, in a safe and wholesome environment, about what
it is like to do actual police work. During the 10-week program,
kids are exposed to all facets of the job by participating
in a variety of workshops taught by LAPD experts. Activities
include touring the Hollywood police station, learning about
crime scene investigation, visiting the Piper Tech-Air Support
Division, seeing what life is like in juvenile hall, meeting
members of the Bomb Squad and K9 Bomb detection unit, watching
motorcycle demonstrations, and much more.

FIELD
TRIPS:
The Hollywood PAL kids are also treated to a wide variety
of field trips once a month, visiting places they might not
otherwise have the resources to attend. The trips also provide
a fun environment in which to bond with police officers. Examples
of recent trips include visits to Magic Mountain, the beach,
Universal Studios, Los Angeles Zoo, LAPD Air Support and the
LAPD Police Academy..
ANNUAL
EVENTS:
Every year Hollywood PAL sponsors National Night Out, the
PAL Summer Picnic and a children's Holiday Party. The children
also have an opportunity to participate in California PAL
events, such as Camporee, Beach Play Day, The Sacramento Experience
and Life After High School.
